THE Denver Broncos (8-5) have already played in two nationally televised games this season and were included in a third. Soon they could be transformed into a fourth.
Two weeks ago, the NFL relaxed its Broncos“Sunday afternoon Week 16 game against the Los Angeles Chargers from December 22 to Thursday Night Football on December 19. It was the first TNF flex in NFL history.
Denver’s game in Week 17 is also a candidate for national attention.
The Broncos’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals (4-8) is one of five matches in contention to be integrated into one of the three Saturday windows during week 17.
The other candidates are the Arizona Cardinals (6-6) at the Los Angeles Rams (6-6), the Los Angeles Chargers (8-4) at the New England Patriots (3-10), the Indianapolis Colts (6-7 ) in New York. Giants (2-10) and Atlanta Falcons (6-6) against Washington Commanders (8-5).
Three of these matches will be played on Saturday December 28. The other two will be played on Sunday December 29. Of these games, Broncos-Bengals, Cardinals-Rams and Falcons-Commanders appear to be the most likely candidates to potentially have playoff implications for both involved (if Cincinnati wins a few upcoming games).
The NFL will play three games that Saturday with MT kickoffs at 11:00 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Unless the Bengals are eliminated from the playoffs before then (and maybe even if they are), the Cincinnati-Denver game seems like a good candidate to be flexed.
