THE Indianapolis Colts have had almost no effectiveness from their limited space this year to help the quarterback Anthony Richardson. While Mo Alie-Cox And Drew Ogletree are more of the blocking type, Kylen Granson And Will Mallory were invisible during the passing attack.
Analyst and former college football player Ray G posted on X that Indy must be like dynamic Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.
Hey @Colts help young Anthony Richardson by drafting a Top 10 player in this class. Tyler Warren. #NFLDraft https://t.co/zzsAU5jNTK

Seeing as how four Colts tight ends have accumulated just 30 total catches (Alie-Cox leads with 11), Warren makes a lot of sense for Indianapolis. In 2024, Warren has 88 catches for 1,062 receiving yards (12.1 average) and six receiving touchdowns. He was also used extensively on the ground with 23 carries for 191 rushing yards (8.3 average) and four other scores (10 all-purpose).
At 6’6″ and around 250 pounds, Warren has the size and type of former Colts tight end Jack Doyle, but he will likely start immediately if drafted. Even with Jelani Wood in contact until 2024, he has missed consecutive seasons due to injuries and can no longer be counted on for the future of the position.
Warren is exactly what Shane Steichen’s offense needs to shore up the passing attack and help Richardson find targets quickly and in the middle of the field. Also, pass catchers Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Alex PierceAnd AD Mitchell will have more opportunities to play against opposing coverage.
The Colts gave the committee a tight end approach to the college tryout, and it failed. It’s time for Chris Ballard and the offensive coaching staff to admit that position coach Tom Manning needs a prospect, and Warren is the perfect antidote. Indy can’t focus on the draft yet, as they need to come back from their bye week to reel off four straight wins if they want to make the playoffs.
