THE The Steelers are heading to Philadelphia for a gigantic match against the Eagles Sunday, and Mike Tomlin’s team could be without George Pickens.
Similar to the situations the Eagles have faced regarding AJ Brown and recently DeVonta Smith, Pickens is dealing with a Grade 2 hamstring injury that caused him to miss the Week 14 win against the Browns.
According to ESPN Brooke Pryor, Following a conversation Sunday morning with athletic trainers and wide receiver George Pickens, coach Mike Tomlin elected to make Pickens, who suffered a hamstring injury late in the week, inactive for the win 27 -14 Steelers against the Browns on Sunday.
After the 27-14 victory, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was asked why Pickens didn’t take the field. He said this was to ensure he returned to full speed as soon as possible.
Pickens has 850 receiving yards and three touchdowns and would be a formidable opponent for Eagles cornerbacks Darius Slay and Quinyon Mitchell.
Tomlin declined to speculate on Pickens’ status for the Philadelphia game, and Pittsburgh will play three games over the next 11 days, including another matchup against Baltimore.
