If Cam Room ends up joining a New York team in the 2025 NFL Draft, don’t expect to see him at nightclubs much. Or anywhere in the city, apparently.
THE Miami Quarterback was requested before Saturday evening Heisman Trophy ceremony what he thought about the possibility of playing for the Giantswho are surprisingly looking for a new franchise QB. The team signed Daniel Jones to a four-year extension worth $160 million in 2023, but they have since abandoned those plans, releasing him in November. At 2-11, the Giants are tied with the Las Vegas Raiders in the race for the No. 1 draft pick.
Ward didn’t seem discouraged by the idea of the Giants taking him: “I mean, if (Giants general manager Joe Schoen) wants to come get me, he knows best.” winner Davey O’Brien told the media with a laugh. on hand for the Heisman presentation.
However, he added that the bright lights of New York aren’t necessarily his thing. “In New York City, I’ll probably never be there,” Ward said. “I’m going to stay in New Jersey all day, every day, it’s too much going on here, so I’m vibing and trying to make football plays for the Giants.”
Good news for Ward: The Giants play in East Rutherford, New Jersey, so he technically doesn’t need to cross the Hudson River to get to the Big Apple. And Hoboken and Jersey City are great places to live: rents in the city are skyrocketing anyway.
But Giants fans might feel nervous that someone seems hesitant to be in the New York spotlight. This may seem strange for someone coming from Miami, but remember, he began his college football journey as a 0-star recruit at Word incarnate before spending two seasons at Washington State (Pullman isn’t exactly the most glamorous college town). Also, the U is actually in Coral Gables, and the Hurricanes playing in Miami Gardens, about a half hour north of Miami proper.
Hey, if the Giants pass him, he could still go to the Jets, just behind the Giants in the draft race at 3-10.
