EAST RUTHERFORD – The football is now in the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders heading into their Monday night game against the Atlanta Falcons.
THE New York Giants have once again climbed to the top of the 2025 NFL Draft, and if the Raiders can come out and score a win for Antonio Pierce in prime time, Big Blue would enter the final three weeks of the season in control of its own destiny.
The Giants (2-12) now have the No. 1 pick in the draft, according to Tankathon.comwhich projects order based on ranking and strength of schedule. That’s one more spot for the Giants than they had entering the day’s action, but that could change depending on how the Las Vegas Raiders do against the Falcons.
The Raiders are 2-11 and have the strength advantage over the Giants, so a Falcons win would put Las Vegas ahead of Big Blue once again.
If the Giants lose their final three games, they’ll end up with no worse than the second pick in next April’s draft since the Jaguars and Raiders will face each other in two weeks.
The Giants and Raiders are believed to be in the market for a quarterback with Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward currently considered the top two in the class of 2025. Deion Sanders, Shedeur’s father and head coach from Colorado, was released this weekend. insisting that it is false that he doesn’t want his son to play for the Giants, or any team other than the Raiders.
A video of Sanders telling Pierce at a February Super Bowl reception was recirculated last weekend that the Raiders should recruit his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, as a safety in Colorado.
The Giants have already done plenty of homework on Shedeur Sanders, with general manager Joe Schoen and his top aides spending time on the Boulder campus in a recent Buffaloes practice. Not only is Shedeur potentially a top pick, but cornerback/wide receiver and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter could be the best non-quarterback prospect in the draft.
Schoen has also scouted Ward in person this season. The pre-draft evaluation process will kick into high gear following the college and NFL regular seasons.
