Following the Indianapolis Colts“Devastating loss to the Denver Broncos, Focus on professional football compiled the team’s snapshot numbers for Sunday’s game.

So what stood out on the offensive and defensive side of the ball?

Now, 15 weeks into the NFL season, there really aren’t many surprises at this point in the game. For the most part, we know what each player’s playing time will typically look like.

That said, each week, there are a few notable observations to be made.

With help from PFF, here are the Colts’ snapshot numbers from Week 15, along with some quick notes.

    Quick Takeaways

    – With Ryan Kelly still on injured reserve, the team opted to give Danny Pinter the start at center rather than Tanor Bortolini. I suspect the reason behind the move was continuity up front, after the combination of Pinter at center and Mark Glowinski at right guard found success in the Colts’ Week 13 win.

    – Mo Alie-Cox finished third among tight ends in snaps in this game, despite often being first in that category. He entered Sunday’s game as questionable due to a hip injury.

    – Without the release of Ashton Dulin and then Alec Pierce, AD Mitchell took on a much larger role.

    Quick Takeaways

    – Tyquan Lewis was once again the fourth defensive end in terms of playing time. Before his injury, he started opposite Kwity Paye. It’s now been three games since Lewis returned from IR, so I guess they’re not facilitating him anymore and that will be the norm going forward.

    – Grant Stuard played 21 snaps, which tells us the Colts spent about a third of the game lined up in their base 4-3 defense and the rest primarily in the nickel with three cornerbacks and two linebackers.

    – I’ve mentioned this before, but when Raekwon Davis was signed in the offseason, I thought he would play a bigger role as a third defensive lineman in the rotation, there to help bolster the depth of run defense. However, that year he played less than a third of defensive snaps and that’s even with his role increasing for a time when the team was without Buckner.
