In a game as lopsided as the one you’ll see in the 2024 NFL season, with Spencer Rattler running for his life during nearly every New Orleans Saints setback, disaster struck when Christian Watson had to leave the field with what had been lost. officially been classified as a knee injury according to ESPN NFL senior insider Adam Schefter.

“Packers WR Christian Watson injured his knee and is doubtful he will return tonight,” Schefter wrote on social media.

Now, for Packers fans, this is a pretty disappointing result in an otherwise lopsided win, as the team probably could have rested Watson and his starters and still come out on top with the win. Ascending tight end Tucker Kraft led all players through three quarters with three catches for 63 yards, and even Osh Jacobs had some fun, supplementing his always-impressive rushing stats with some effort as a receiver as well. Watson, on the other hand, didn’t really do much in the game, going 0-1 on his only target and leaving the game without a single yard to his name.

Assuming the Saints don’t go on an incredible Week 16 Washington Commanders-style stretch where they completely take over in the fourth quarter, the Packers will be sitting pretty nice at 11-5, holding the sixth seed in the playoffs. playoffs behind the division. winners and the Minnesota Vikings. While it’s not a doomsday scenario with two games remaining, since they would still be assured of a playoff spot and could fall to at least seventh, playing the Philadelphia Eagles is much tougher than the Los Rams Angeles and get that sixth seed. gets a lot easier with Watson on the court, even with a ton of depth on the offensive side of the ball.

Now granted, it might not be anything bad, and Watson would have returned to the field if the game was even a little close – fans will find out soon enough thanks to head coach Matt LaFleur – but if Watson misses time, it will make it harder for the Packers to win even though the North Dakota State product is in the middle of a year that’s a bit down from his usual standards.
