Aaron Glenn ready for busy weekend of head coach interviews

Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn speaks to the media before the start of practice during the Detroit Lions Organized Team Activities (OTA) at their headquarters in Allen Park, Michigan, Thursday, May 23, 2024.

THE Lions may not be busy as a whole this week getting a first-round bye, but their top head coaching candidates certainly will.

Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn will be part of that group as he is scheduled to participate in five head coaching interviews this weekend.

His schedule begins Thursday night with an interview with the New York Jets. He will then have two interviews on Friday, a morning session with the New Orleans Saints then an evening interview with the Las Vegas Raiders.

His schedule ends Saturday with another pair of interviews. He meets the Jacksonville Jaguars in the morning then the Chicago Bears in the evening.

For those keeping score, that represents five of the six vacancies Glenn will be interviewing for this week. The only team not on the schedule is the New England Patriots and that’s because Glenn decided to decline an interview with the Patriots (perhaps a sign that New England is in on a candidate, perhaps Mike Vrabel).

Glenn is still very focused on helping the Lions reach their ultimate goal of the Super Bowl, but he will have a lot on his plate elsewhere. It can also be argued that Glenn’s days in Detroit are numbered, but for very good reason.
