Andrew Luck is living the life of his dreams. The former No. 1 quarterback pick for the Indianapolis Colts is married to his college sweetheart and is the general manager of the Stanford Cardinal football team. He earned millions of dollars during his professional football career and even managed to lead the Union to victory in the Civil War. Perhaps most impressively, he was so good that from time to time people like me I feel obliged to say“F*** it, let’s watch some Andrew Luck highlights.”

It turns out that in this regard, former NFL head coach Jon Gruden and I have at least one thing in common, although I feel like I should note that there is a large group of football fans and analysts who will happily watch and defend Andrew Luck’s career. Luck was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist and was recently inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Despite a light CV, if we look at the quality of the player or the peak of his career, luck should Also be a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Pending good health, there may not have been a safer quarterback to enter the NFL this century.

However, Luck only played in 86 regular season games during his career before retiring at the age of 29 in order to preserve his long-term health and relationships off the field. Over those 86 games, Luck compiled a 53-33 regular season record and a 4-4 mark in the playoffs. He made four Pro Bowls and led the Colts to their most recent appearance in an AFC Championship Game.
