Andrew Beck and JJ Taylor head to Arrowhead Stadium for Saturday’s showdown.
THE Houston Texans elevated the veteran guard and running back to the active roster for a showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round.
Since this is the playoffs, the number of times a player can be elevated from the practice squad is no longer an issue.
Beck, who joined Houston last offseason after beginning his career with the Denver Broncos, was expected to be on the active 53-man roster before a calf injury limited him for most of the preseason. He was released and signed to the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad.
After his return, the Texans raised him twice during the regular season. He saw little action on special teams and was credited with two offensive snaps against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Taylor actually did the list of 53 players for a while after running back Joe Mixon was sidelined with an ankle injury for three games. He played in five games before being sidelined to make way for returning defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr., totaling 10 carries for 44 yards.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT. The match will be televised nationally on ABC and ESPN.
