CINCINNATI, Ohio (WLWT) – According to our partners at WLWT, The Cincinnati Bengals announced the hiring of two new offensive line coaches.
First reported by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Scott Peters and Michael McCarthy have been named to the Bengals’ coaching staff.
Peters replaces Frank Pollack, who was fired earlier this month along with several other members of the Bengals’ 2024 coaching staff, including defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.
“Scott is a great fit for our offense,” said head coach Zac Taylor. “He is passionate about this position and has done a great job developing young players and helping veteran players continue to grow. He knows the AFC North well and knows what it takes to win in our division. I am delighted to have him on our team.
Peters comes to Cincinnati from New England, where he spent the 2024 campaign in the same role. Prior to his time with the Patriots, he served as an assistant offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns from 2020-2023.
McCarthy follows Peters to Cincinnati from New England, where he served as an offensive assistant coach. Before entering the NFL coaching ranks, he served as a college coach from 2018-2023 with Rutgers University (offensive assistant) and Brown University (offensive line).
According to advanced analytics site Pro Football Focus, the Bengals ranked 30th among offensive lines in 2024, with seven playing more than 150 snaps for the Bengals.
The Bengals ranked 27th in PFF pass blocking efficiency (82.7) in the league and did not have a qualified player rating higher than 65.0 in 2024.
