The Pro Football Writers of America, comprised of writers from across the country who cover the NFL and its teams, recently released their 2024 player awards for the AFC and NFC All-NFL and all-conference teams.
You can see the All-NFL team here and the rosters for both all-conference teams here.
Nobody on the Arizona Cardinals I made it, not even safety Budda Baker or tight end Trey McBride.
Baker was left off the All-NFL and All-NFC teams for Detroit’s Brian Branch and Green Bay’s Xavier McKinney.
Brank had a fantastic season, racking up 108 tackles, catching four passes and breaking up 16 passes.
McKinney was incredibly productive with the ball. He had eight interceptions and 11 assists for a total of 88 tackles.
Baker accumulated 164 tackles, including 95 solo tackles. But he didn’t have an interception in 2024 and broke up five passes.
Baker, however, made the Pro Bowl for the seventh straight season and was second team All-Pro.
McBride was passed over for the top tight end spot by rookie Brock Bowers of Las Vegas, who had 112 catches for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns.
McBride had 111 catches for 1,146 yards and two scores.
But McBride was also snubbed in favor of San Francisco’s George Kittle, who was also fantastic in 2024. He caught 78 passes for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns.
You could argue that McBride should have had the advantage over Kittle, but Kittle has been doing it at the highest level for years.
However, if Kittle wants to get McBride the nod for the NFC, he probably deserves to be picked over Bowers.
But with the Cardinals only winning eight games, it’s going to take a little more team success for their best players to get more recognition for awards like these.
