It was a crazy period in the United States and Philadelphia.

The American hostages held in Iran for more than a year were published a few minutes after President Ronald Reagan was sworn in on January 20, 1981. Five days later, the Philadelphia Eagles would appear in their first Super Bowl at Louisiana Superdome, who had a yellow ribbon on it to honor the hostages of return.

The Eagles will return to New Orleans 45 years later to face the Chiefs of Kansas City in the Super Bowl Lix on February 9. Orleans.

Here is a ventilation of what happened:

The Eagles of Philadelphia reached their first Super Bowl in 1980

Eagles were an increasing team in the late 1970s.

After winning the NFL championship in 1960, the Eagles only managed three winning seasons until the third season of head coach Dick Vermeil.

The Eagles made the playoffs in 1978, losing against the Falcons of Atlanta, 14-13, in the Joker’s match. Philadelphia then finished the 1979 season with a file of 11-5, winning a joker, but lost against the Buccaneers of Tampa Bay 24-17 during the NFC division round.

The Eagles finally pierced in 1980 behind Ron Jaworski, Wilbert Montgomery and Harold Carmichael in attack, and one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The Eagles joined a deficit of 14-0 against the Vikings of Minnesota during the division tour. Montgomery rushed to 74 yards and two affected, and the defense closed the Vikings after the two scores in the first half.

The Cowboys of the Dallas archival waited in the NFC championship match. The two teams divided the series of the season, the two teams winning at home. The league match, however, was played at the Veterans Stadium.

The defense of the Eagles forced four cowboys turnarounds, held the quarter of the Arrière Danny White at 127 yards and closed the duo of Ballon carrier of Tony Dorsett and Robert Newhouse, holding them to 85 combined yards.

In attack, the Eagles fought early, but came strong in the second half. Montgomery was unleashed in Dallas, rushing for 194 yards and a hit in a 20-7 victory and a place in the Super Bowl XV.

“We were a second half team all year round and our offensive line played a great match,” Jaworski told CBS Sports thereafter. “They gave places of Wilbert to run and Leroy in short film. It was phenomenal, the offensive line was the key to this football match in addition to our defense playing big football.”

The Eagles of Philadelphia fight in the Super Bowl XV in New Orleans

The Eagles of the Eagles of Philadelphia, Bill Bergey (66), kneels on the stiffness of Oakland Raymond Chester (88) in the Super Bowl XV at Superdome on January 25, 1981, in New Orleans. The raiders beat the Eagles 27-10.

The Raiders, who opened the 2-3 season, changed the quarters of week 5 after Dan Pastorini was injured. Jim Plunkett intervened and the raiders took off. They finished season 11-5, winning a joker bitch.

The two teams had clashed earlier in the season, the Eagles winning 10-7 at the Veterans Stadium.

On Sunday of the Super Bowl, however, the results would be very different, the Eagles falling 27-10.
