In front of the draft of the NFL 2020, it was a good year for needing an offensive tackle – in particular the Buccaneers of Tampa Bay. In the first 13 choices of the NFL 2020 draft, four offensive plasters have been drafted, including the offensive platform of the Tristan Wirfs Buccaneers out of Iowa. However, the tackle of the buccaneers did not think it would be selected by Tampa Bay after a pre-trafic accidentby Ari Meirov on X.

“At the time, I was not too worried [the draft order for offensive tackles]. You know, when they called me on the draft evening, they said, “Are you ready to protect Tom Brady?” And I said to myself: “I will prepare myself”. It was a bit of mind there, but I understand that it is a business, and I would not have been surprised to order with the four guys.

“I didn’t think I was going to Tampa. I thought I had “pooped the bed” in the interview with Tampa at the combine harvester. There are pre-Rôti interviews after the towel harvester and normally they are in person, but it was cocovated, so we were all on Zoom. They were my first zoom meeting. I had never used zoom before, and I was like two to three minutes late because I could not understand how to connect. And I said to myself: “I sauté. They hate me. Then they called me on the evening of the draft. I said to myself: “Okay, let’s go.” But no, I was ecstatic after that. I was just trying to go down there.

Now, although Wirfs was a little late for his pre-Rôti interview with the Buccaneers, this clearly did not prevent the two from building an exceptional partnership together.

Since he was selected by the Buccaneers in the NFL 2020 draft, Wirfs has been invited to four pro Bowls, has been a Super Bowl ring.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers newsThe article continues below

It is perhaps the fate that the Buccaneers landed the Wirfs because it was the fourth tackle out of the table, but it could hardly have been better for both parties.

On the one hand, Wirfs is the best -paid offensive line by season ($ 28 million / year) after having signed a $ 140.6 million contract over five years with the Buccaneers.

On the other hand, the Buccaneers have one of the best plated in the NFL under 30.

He can take time to an offensive tackle to adapt to the NFL, but with Wirfs, this transition seemed to occur during the night, because the former Iowa Hawkeye had a huge impact on the community of Tampa Bay after landing With the Buccaneers in 2020.

Even if he was in fashion late for his pre-Rôti interview, it seems to have worked everything.
